cologne, germany

stepping out of the train station right in front of the cologne cathedral was a breathtaking moment not only because we weren’t expecting it to be right there but also for the size and beauty of this magnificent building.

the climb to the top of the spire was a long 533 step up! coming down was much easier.

after that climb up and down hot chocolate and gluhwein at the first christmas market we saw was a must! it was hard to capture the spirit of christmas at these markets. it seemed like every corner we turned there was another one.

the cathedral on a cold winter night with the fog made it looked even more surreal than in the daylight.

every christmas market has its own mug for that year, we ended up with lots of them! i think we devoured most of the food we got at the market before i had a chance to take a picture! it was my favorite part.
